TREK READY HIKES

Trek Ready hikes are built for what comes after the walk — a big trek overseas, an event you’ve committed to, or a personal goal only you know the shape of. These are longer, steeper hikes with real elevation, led by a guide who trains the same way she’d want to be trained. Every Trek Ready hike is women-only, small group, and grounded in the terrain that’s actually going to prepare you.

What makes a hike Trek Ready

Every Trek Ready hike is longer, steeper, or both, than a standard day hike. Where our regular day hikes sit around 12 to 14km with a gentler grade, Trek Ready hikes carry real elevation, longer distances, or repeated climbing, the kind of terrain that actually builds the fitness and confidence a big trek demands.

Real elevation, real terrain

These hikes aren’t scaled-down versions of the real thing. They’re chosen because the climbing is genuine, whether that’s a steady summit push, a track that zig-zags up and down without much flat ground to recover on, or a distance that tests your legs on the way back down as much as the way up. If a hike is labelled Trek Ready, it earned that label on the trail, not in a marketing meeting.

Who it’s for

Trek Ready hikes suit women training for a specific goal: an overseas trek, a charity event, a personal challenge they’ve set for themselves. They also suit anyone who wants a harder, more demanding day on the trail than our standard hikes offer, whether or not there’s a bigger trip on the calendar. You don’t need prior experience with us to book one, but you should come with a reasonable level of fitness and be ready for a proper workout.

What to expect on the day

Small groups, guided by women, with the same first-aid trained, experienced guides who lead every Wanderlust Trails hike. Trek Ready hikes start at 8am and are finished by lunchtime, unless a hike’s own page says otherwise. Catering isn’t included on these hikes, so bring your own snacks and water for the day. Each Trek Ready hike lists its distance, elevation gain and grading clearly on its own page, so you know exactly what you’re signing up for before you book.

Not sure if you’re ready?

If you’ve done one or two of our standard day hikes and want to push further, or if you’re already training for something specific and need a Melbourne-based hike that actually challenges you, Trek Ready is where to start. Get in touch if you’re unsure which hike suits your current fitness, we’re happy to talk it through before you book.
